Christmas Season 2011
Can you believe that it is almost time for us to open the gates and welcome all of you back to find that perfect tree?  The year has passed quickly and we have worked hard this year getting the farm ready for you.  As this is being posted we are in the last field of the farm putting the finishing touches on the mowing and shearing.  The trees look fabulous this year.  All the good weather and moderate temperatures have made them lush and full.

This year in the Christmas shop we are excited to offer many handmade items.  There are a variety of quilts, table toppers, wall hangings, and purses.  In addition, we are featuring hand knitted rugs, which by the way last forever.  Thanks to Equine Kingdom Riding Academy we also have a line of knitted and fleece hats.  There may even be a few plush horses for sale.

Don’t forget to friend us on Facebook to receive regular updates on what’s new at South Mountain Plantation!

Santa & Mrs. Claus (aka Cline) - South Mountain Plantation    If you have ever wondered what the Claus
family and elves do during the off season...

Bring the family and enjoy the family tradition of choosing the perfect Christmas tree while enjoying the panoramic views of four states. Wander through the acres of trees to find the tree just right for you. South Mountain Plantation is the place to enjoy family time and continue a tradition that will last generations. Once the perfect tree is found enjoy the experience of cutting it down with a saw provided at the farm. You don’t have to be Paul Bunyan to yell “timber!” Bring the tree back to the shop on one of the wagons provided or have the family help carry it back. The Farm provides free baling of the Christmas tree and twine to tie the tree on your vehicle. Always remember to tie the tree on the vehicle “butt” first.

In a rush, or unable to make the hike in the field to find a tree? A tree lot is available with a great selection of pre-cut trees in both size and variety. Live trees are also available to be planted in your yard after Christmas. Live trees keep the memories of Christmas alive all year long.

The Farm experience doesn’t end with getting a tree. There is a Christmas shop that provides greens and wreaths and many unique ornaments to add to the decorating experience. Pin Tree Stands are also available, making setting up the tree a fast and easy experience. Trees are drilled free for those customers with a stand.

The Christmas Shop also has an inventory of specialty handmade quilts, table runners, placemats, purses and totes. These are unique Christmas gifts for special members of your family or friends.

South Mountain Plantation prides itself on being ecologically friendly. Each acre of trees removes up to 26,000 pounds of pollutants from the air each year and provides the daily oxygen requirements for 18 people. We are committed to being good stewards of the earth, providing natural habitats for wildlife and growing a naturally biodegradable crop.

2011 Christmas Tree sales will be from Friday, November 25th through Sunday, December 18th.

Trees, Wreaths, and Ornaments

Searching for a Christmas tree is a family activity. Many of our customers spend hours roaming through our 30,000 trees looking for just the right one for their homes... and not necessarily because it really take that long to find what they came for. The magnificent view of Hagerstown from atop South Mountain is an awesome backdrop for the hunt.

Here is a brief list of the items available here on the farm during the Christmas tree season.
